‘More Than Just Vending’ at the Black Country Chamber Spring Expo!

Coinadrink Limited is set to attend the Black Country Chamber Spring Exhibition as part of the Black Country Business Festival, the region’s largest business event! From 9am until 1pm on Wednesday 22^nd May  at the GTG Training Academy and Conference Centre in Wednesfield, we will be showcasing our vending services to attendees. Of course, we will also be offering premium hot drinks from one of our tabletop coffee machines. So, will we see you there?

Coinadrink Limited is a common face at the local exhibitions and we have built strong relationships with the delegates over the years. Just like at previous events, we will be explaining the benefits of workplace refreshments and the importance of vending in the workplace.

More than just vending at more than just an exhibition…

The Black Country Chamber exhibitions are always great occasions and we expect the Spring addition to be no different. In what will be our first exhibition of 2019, Coinadrink Limited will be one of 60 exhibitors, displaying our services to over 500 visitors from across the region! So the popularity of the event is clear to see.

Now, about the venue. GTG Training Academy and Conference Centre was first founded in 1971, and provides high quality training courses and education in a wide range of areas. The West Midlands branch is the newest addition to the company, located in Wednesfield in Wolverhampton. It provides a premium venue for meetings, conferences and events such as exhibitions. What is the Black Country Business Festival?

The Black Country Business Festival consists of hundreds of business events over the fortnight. It serves as a fantastic opportunity for Black Country businesses to develop and grow and shows the incredible level of strength and innovation that businesses in the region provide.

The Black Country Business Festival is a new programme that allows Black Country businesses to come together and engage on an entirely new level. It has allowed businesses to prosper and we’re proud to be part of such an excellent event on behalf of an excellent organisation.

This year’s dates for the festival are confirmed as 13^th– 24^th May.

The value of an apprenticeship…

One of the UK’s greatest initiatives was the apprenticeship. In a lot of cases they were indentured and for a five-year period. It was widely used to train people to acquire a wide range of practical skills.

It enabled the UK to have a well trained and qualified work force. It was the envy of the world. So, what went wrong? For some reason in the 1970s they became less popular as most large companies believed they had enough people and the cost of employing apprentices was something they could do without. Historically apprentices had been paid the equivalent of today’s £3.75 per hour.

In recent times the education system has been geared towards 50% of young people going to University. The tuition fees have been ramped up and if you add in accommodation and living costs most students leave with a debt of £50,000. Research shows that many of these graduates will struggle to find work. They would have been better off with an apprenticeship. Paid work with a structured education programme, thus giving them lifetime skills.

There seems to be disconnect between the funding of the education system which rewards schools colleges who send students on to university as opposed to an apprenticeship. The apprenticeship levy has not helped either.

There is one local initiative with a website called nextgenmakers.co.uk. Its aim is to make employers large and small aware of the benefits of apprenticeships and has formal arrangements with local colleges.

It deserves to succeed because they are acting to put the 1,000 + young people who will finish college in May into apprenticeships. Now most of these youngsters have no job to go to. What a waste. Look at their web site and see if you could take one of these youngsters on to the long term benefit to your business.

I must declare an interest as I was an apprentice from 1956 to 1961.

Our brand new showroom is almost complete…

We’ve recently seen lots of renovation work carried out here at Coinadrink and for very good reason. The work on our exciting new showroom is getting closer to completion with each passing day and it’s great to see its continuing development. What’s more, we’ve now been able to view a thrilling mock-up of the end result…

Our new showroom will transfer across from where it used to be in Unit 10 to Unit 11, as this provides more space and ensures the showroom will be closer to our main reception. This of course makes it more accessible to visitors. The new showroom will take on a more modern design than before, with a neutral finish that’s both smart and stylish.

The main reason behind our new showroom is to showcase who we are and what we do. Coinadrink is an advanced vending company that leads the way with innovation, and our long line of premium equipment emphasises the case. The showroom will be home to both tabletop and floor standing vending machines, dispensing hot and cold drinks, fresh food and snacks. Our equipment is the pinnacle of the industry, and visitors will be in awe at the advancement.

In addition to our vending and coffee machines will be our very own Micro Market. We firmly regard the Micro Market as the revolution in workplace refreshments and it emphasises the beauty of on-demand items in the heart of the workplace. All of our equipment will be etched around a modern break-out area that allows visitors to relax in style.

Coinadrink Limited: We’re delighted to say that My Coinadrink is on trial!

Remember when we announced before Christmas that ‘My Coinadrink’ was in development? We’re now excited to say that some aspects of the portal are now on trial, and customers have the option as to whether they want to take part in its progress and contribute to its growing evolution.

How can My Coinadrink be of benefit to you?

Right from when we revealed our new website last June, we always intended to further streamline our customer service efforts by introducing a customer portal as part of it. The portal would allow current customers to log into their account and view key information; such as invoices, delivery dates and preferences. Not only would this create a more personalised experience, but it would also improve efficiency within the business by providing information to the customer almost instantly, as opposed to sending it out through the post.

In addition, My Coinadrink enables the customer to place service calls online quickly and easily. As we have emphasised numerous times before, customer service is an aspect of our business that we take very seriously. It is one of the key reasons as to why we consider ourselves as ‘more’ than just a vending company. In our eyes, developing new ways for the customer to contact us regarding their machine or service is always a good thing, hence why we have also recently introduced new QR readers for our vending machines.

In order to make My Coinadrink as practical and as convenient as possible, we identified a way to limit certain aspects of the portal to specific departments should you require it. For example, you may only need the finance department to have access to your invoices. We can make sure this is the case. With My Coinadrink, we make sure your vending experience is as straightforward as possible from all angles.

My Coinadrink is on trial now!

As part of the trial, we have allowed our customers to have access to the invoice section. To date, we have distributed over 70 invoices already and have received some excellent feedback in the process. Customers received an email prompting them to head to the website and log in, though this can be done simply by heading straight to the site anyway. If you haven’t yet received an email but want to be part of this exciting trial, then you can request to do so by emailing accounts@coinadrink.co.uk. We will then sort out the rest.

We are extremely grateful for the enthusiasm already shown to get on board with this, as well as the feedback we have received. It’s fantastic to see our customers willing to take part in the growth of what will be an extremely important and popular aspect of the way we operate. My Coinadrink is still on trial at the moment and not yet the finished article, so we will be adding more features to the portal over time that you can potentially get on board with during the early stages.

Coinadrink Limited: 2018 saw another great set of customer care results!

When you’re an advanced vending company with a customer-centric approach like what we have, positive customer care results are almost to be expected. Next stop: a higher productivity level in the workplace!

New research from XpertHR has suggested that employers are finally wising up to the importance of workplace wellbeing…which will be music to the ears of employees up and down the country. In a new article published only last week, more than half of employers (54.4%) are said to run informal employee wellbeing initiatives and the positive facts and figures don’t end there.

Among those employers who do not have an employee wellbeing programme in place, 67.7% of them say they plan to implement one in the next 12 months.

It’s pleasing to finally see such a commitment to the cause, especially when the benefits of a wellbeing programme may not be clear for at least a year prior to the programme being implemented. Cost is of course an issue to this, but a potential higher productivity level amongst the workforce is surely worth it? According to the figures, it does indeed seem to be the case.

What is an EPA?

The article from Workplace Insight suggests that there are two standout areas that impact employee wellbeing: offering employee assistance programmes and providing sick pay above the statutory amount. The former, known as EAP’s, are intended to help employees deal with problems that may adversely affect their work performance, health and wellbeing.

Xpert HR practice editor Noelle Murphy says: “it is when an employee is at their most vulnerable that they need this kind of support, so removing as many blockers as possible and reassuring employees of their confidentiality is vital.”

We’ve posted an article like this before, but there seems to be few new machines popping up now so it’s only right to share an ‘update’. It’s hard to believe that such vending machines around the world exist, especially when you primarily deal in workplace refreshments like us! But without further ado, here’s some of the best vending machines from around the world…

Gold Vending Machine – Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Yes, you really did read that right. Developed by German firm Ex Oriente Lux, the Gold to Go vending machine can be found at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This staggering machine dispenses genuine gold bullion in one, five and ten gram variants, so you could think of it as a glamourized ATM!

Car Vending Machine – Arizona, USA

We actually produced a blog post on this last year! Known as Carvana, this vending machine stands as tall as a typical office building and has a futuristic feel and look to its structure. The company that founded the machine are an Arizona based tech start-up who sell cars online as well as through the vending machine. It sounds crazy, but having recently expanded to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Washington DC they must be successful!

Fast Food Vending Machine – The Netherlands

With growing demand and lengthy queues, fast food isn’t quite as fast as it was originally intended to be. FEBO, a company originating from The Netherlands, have come up with an exciting solution called ‘vending machine restaurants.’ The eateries serve a wide range of food including hamburgers, croquettes and deep fried sausages, all of which are freshly made in-house.

Pizza Vending Machine – Italy

Let’s Pizzawas developed by Claudio Torghele, a former pasta company exec who was intrigued by the vending machines he saw at the US Food Courts. The machine can be customised to suit the requirements and is capable of crafting the dough in just 40 seconds. This is definitely what you’d call fast food for all the pizza lovers out there.

Invented by a company called Sprinkles, this bakery based in California looks strangely reminiscent of an ATM machine at your local bank. It was developed in response to the company recording high demand for a cupcake only bakery, even out of hours. The rest, as they say, was history and the cupcake vending machine was developed. Whilst the original machine was developed in Beverly Hills, there have since been additional ones spotted in Chicago and Texas to name just a few cities.

No weird vending machines here, but they are wonderful!

Remember when we were finalists in the Tomorrow’s FM Awards 2018?

We noticed last week that the Tomorrow’s FM Awards are back underway and the line of finalists have been selected. It got us thinking about when we were nominated as finalists back in 2018, a very prestigious nomination indeed. Coinadrink is proud to deliver cutting edge vending products and services to the Facilities Management industry and whilst we chose not to enter this year, we’re always willing to show our support to everything that’s great about the industry. 

What are the Tomorrow’s FM Awards?

It’s probably best to explain what the Facilities Management industry is first and foremost. FM is a professional management discipline focused upon the efficient and effective delivery of support services for the organisations that it serves. This may include services to enhance a workplace, such as workplace refreshments or better equipment to help employees get on with their role.

The Tomorrow’s FM Awards is a collection of everything that is great about the Facilities Management Industry. Now in its eighth year, the FM industry has once again had no trouble picking a few standout candidates for the FM Awards 2019. The industry hasn’t been without its challenges over the past 12 months, most notably thanks to the Carillion collapse in January 2018, but it’s came through even stronger than before.

48 finalists will now battle it out to be crowned the winner.

We were finalists in 2018!

Or, rather, our branch division Express Refreshments was, for the FM Awards 2018. The foundations of our Micro Market stem around the wellbeing and productivity of the workforce so we saw a golden opportunity to put it forward as an entry. And as it turned out, we were very successful.

The judges saw the appeal of a self-service convenience store for the workplace, laden with extensive refreshments, including healthier items, for the working day and beyond. The fact that we can tie the Micro Market into a break out area was particularly favourable, as it promotes a genuine break time and staff engagement.

Although we didn’t win in the FM Awards 2018, it was a fantastic honour to be nominated as a finalist.

2019’s standout entries.

Personally, I was quite interested to read about Levitate Aerial, a drone deploy application that utilises artificial intelligence to identify and measure different roof and edge types, including surface areas, valleys, and ridges. This enables the user to quickly deliver the data that is essential to things such as roof repairs, assessments and insurance claims. Could this be of interest to you?

Elsewhere, Renoo, responsible for infrared pothole repair services, is quite an interesting service, as is ERA Lockdown, who are home security specialists. I’ll attach the virtual magazine, so you can get an idea yourself as to some of the standouts. Voting will be carried out by you, the reader, so it’s a good opportunity to know exactly what you are voting for.
